This approximately 30-acre area is located along the Vermillion River Bottoms approximately 15 miles from Red Wing. The site comprises high quality floodplain forest, with isolated patches of reed canary grass.

The Minnesota DNR is planning to harvest portions of the site during winter 2017-18, and Audubon Minnesota assisted by planting bare root tree seedlings on approximately nine acres during fall 2016.

Audubon’s participation in this project is complete.

This is a cooperative project with MN DNR Forestry. Funding was provided by the Outdoor Heritage Fund, McKnight Foundation, and Aveda Corporation.
