Official count periods were:
- Phase 1: July 26-28
- Phase 2: August 30-September 2
Highlights: The total number of volunteers engaged from July 26-September 4 was 232 including 38 youth under the age of 18. In total, 99 unique locations were observed covering a variety of different building and structure types. Approximately 8073 Chimney Swifts were counted in all, with 1485 swifts recorded as the highest single count. For more details see the 2013 Swift Sit Results.
We look forward to the 6th Annual Chimney Swift Sit next fall. Remember every chimney used by a swift is important. Chimney swifts have declined by over 50% in just the last 40 years.Your participation in the Annual Chimney Swift Sit adds critical information and understanding to help us work toward reversing this alarming trend.
