Birders from around the world are attracted to Sax-Zim Bog, west of Duluth, to see rare northern owls and other boreal forest species. The Duluth Audubon Society has just produced a birding checklist for this Important Bird Area (see PDF below). Sighting frequency is shown by season for 214 birds that have been recorded here. Duluth Audubon, with funding from Audubon Minnesota, has also constructed an information kiosk in Meadowlands, Minnesota within the IBA to help birders access the best places to see birds there.
