Where to Bird in Minnesota
.

At the confluence of three major North American ecotypes – the boreal-hardwood forest, the eastern broadleaf forest, and the prairie parkland – Minnesota has an interesting diversity of birds and places to see them.
To introduce you to some of these places, Audubon Minnesota has produced three detailed, easy-to-use birding guides: “The Minnesota River Valley Birding Trail Guide;” “The Great River Birding Trail Guide – Headwaters to the Minnesota-Iowa Border,” and “The North Shore Birding Trail – Birding Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Portage.” Available through your local bookstore or online from Adventure Publications.
Learn more about Audubon’s work on the Mississippi River and the Minnesota River Valley. We also recommend birding in some of Minnesota's Important Bird Areas such as Hawk Ridge, Sherburne NWR, Lac Qui Parle – Big Stone, and Sax-Zim Bog.
The Minnesota Ornithologist's Union provides information on the latest rare or unusual birds seen in the state.
